PRESS RELEASE
Oxford’s Richard Thornton Library is hosting a reception and book signing for Ronald D. Maloney, author of Powerhouse Road and former student of Central Children’s Home of North Carolina, on Tuesday October 29th, 2013, from 7 to 9 pm. Mr. Maloney’s book has been adopted for inclusion in curriculum of the Department of Social Work at North Carolina State University.
While Mr. Maloney is in the area to meet with students and staff at NCSU, he will be visiting other schools which may also consider adopting the book for their social work, sociology, or psychology curricula. They include Shaw and North Carolina Central Universities, as well as the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Mr. Maloney will address a forum at Shaw University on Tuesday October 29, 2013, at 9:30 am. More than 100 students and faculty anticipate attending this event.
Students from NCSU will be hosting a book signing and reception for Mr. Maloney on Wednesday, October 30th, 2013 from 7 – 9 pm in its large library. Mr. Maloney will also participate in a tour of the Masonic Home for Children and Central Children’s Home, both in Oxford, that will be given for visiting students from NCSU on November 1st, 2013. Mayor Jackie Sergent will be on hand to greet Professor Barbara Zelter and her 44 students.
We are encouraging everyone to come out in support of our own. Please call Mark Pace, at RH Thornton Library (919-693-2141) for more information.
