Ronald D. Maloney was a student at the Colored Orphanage, later renamed the Central Children’s Home, for thirteen years, from the first grade to his departure for the military in 1972. The orphanages’ address; however, remained his home address until 1976. He earned a Masters degree in Social Welfare from the University of California at Berkeley, California; Bachelors degree in Social Work from North Carolina State University at Raleigh, North Carolina; Associate of Arts degree from the University of Maryland-European Division and post-graduate work in Business Administration at John F. Kennedy University at Orinda, California. He has worked in the field of Behavioral Healthcare and related fields for thirty years. He currently works in a critical care unit at a major trauma center in Northern California.
Ron is also a 33rd degree Prince Hall Mason and a life member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity.
Ron was the first bi-racial child transferred from a white rural family setting to a black institutional childcare facility in the Deep South.
